#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. From May to October, on the basis of Dudinka secondary school No. 1, a new project of the Arctic Center of Culture – Taimyr Young Designers – will be implemented. The project won a grant from the Project Office for the Development of the Arctic (PORA) in the amount of 100 thousand rubles.
The author of the project is Natalya Sidorova, the Arctic Center of Culture head, the idea belongs to the Taimyr municipal district administration culture department head Valentina Satska.
Thanks to the project, young people from among the indigenous peoples of Taimyr will be attracted to the study of the ancient culture of ethnic groups through the creation of special ethnic products that reflect both the traditions of the indigenous peoples of the peninsula and modern approaches to design.
The project participants will create T-shirts in ethnic style. The authors of the 12 best sketches will take part in a hackathon with an ethnic designer from Irkutsk, where young fashion designers will be taught the design basics. In addition, there will be a master class on creating patterns for T-shirts.
“These events will allow young people to develop an interest in studying their native culture, traditions and family signs, to form an association of young ethnic clothing designers in the polar capital”, the organizers said.
Earlier, Taimyr schoolchildren learned how to make national souvenirs, amulets and jewelry. The first handicraft forum was held in Dudinka. We also told that for the first time in Russia an album of northern ethnic music was released, and Rosstandart registered the Made in the Arctic brand.
