#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. This uncovering will draw on the history, culture, and traditions of historical settlements in northwestern Russia, all of which are preserved in the enchanting fairy tales of small ethnic groups such as the Veps, Pomors, and Sami.
By leveraging these magical stories, the project team aims to identify opportunities for tourism development within traditional lifestyles, local cuisine, museum exhibitions, and crafts. They will create and promote diverse content filled with narratives and fairy tales about the extraordinary places in the Russian North. The project will also organize immersive performances of fairy tales, engaging local residents and travel bloggers, conduct workshops on social project design for community members, and collaborate with residents to create art installations in their settlements, as shared on the project’s social media.
According to the organizers, in 2025, bloggers, local historians, and journalists will embark on five laboratory journeys to historical settlements in the Arhangelsk, Murmansk, and Leningrad regions. The routes will include the towns of Mezhen, Onega, Umba, Lovozero, and Vinnitsy, as reported by the Telegram channel First Arctic.
“Our goal is to assemble a team that, using modern tools, will highlight new opportunities for the development of these communities based on their own enchanting historical heritage”, explained project leader Pavel Prokofyev.
In each settlement, workshops on sociocultural project design are planned to help local residents develop their own creative initiatives.
It’s important to note that The Fairy Tale Laboratory of the Silver Necklace of Russia is being implemented with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives.
