#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The specialists of the City Center of Folk Art Evgenia Beti and Svetlana Popova made a working trip to the village of Levinskie Peski. Let us remind you that in July, on the basis of the village club, a studio of arts and crafts for tailoring Dolgan clothes was opened.
An exhibition of old Dolgan parkas was open for residents. Theoretical and practical classes were also held there. Evgenia Beti read out a report on the peculiarities of cutting and sewing, as well as on the methods of processing fur, leather, fabrics, on the methods of selecting colors and beads. For the beauty of their clothes, the Dolgans were called aristocrats of the tundra.
The village residents took part for free in a mini-workshop on tailoring a Dolgan parka under the guidance of a professional craftswoman Svetlana Popova.
The Singing Ornaments project was organized with the support of the World of New Opportunities Nornickel’s social projects competition.
Earlier we reported that the book Ornament is the Language of Ancestors was presented at the St. Petersburg headquarters of the Russian Geographical Society. And on the occasion of the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, with the Nornickel’s support, the exhibition The World in Faces was opened. In addition, this spring Norilsk and Taimyr people were taught how to make Samoyed belts.
