#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Taimyr Reserves directorate announced the completion of construction within the project Lama Visitor Center: Resources and Opportunities.
The reserves’ press service notes that the difficult period associated with covid restrictions and other force majeure circumstances is finally over. Now the main object of the project – a visitor center based on Dobrosfera modular structures – is ready to welcome guests. The Nornickel company supported the creating the center with the World of New Opportunities grant program.
The visitor center was conceived as a social facility. Eco-educational, security and tourism events will be held here. A winter laboratory building will be set up next to the dome of the Dobrosfera, where scientists will be engaged in studies of this outstanding nature site.
“This is a unique assistant for tourists”, the directorate said. “Here you can get visual information and expert advice about the natural and recreational attractions of the Putoransky reserve”.
A separate stand in the visitor center was dedicated to the legendary director of Putoransky – Vladimir Larin. In the dashing nineties and difficult zero years, he managed to maintain the reserve structure, despite the financial and organizational difficulties in the country during this period.
The way to the visitor center on Lama from the pier on the Norilskaya river will take no more than three hours by a KS-100 boat, and even less – by a hovercraft.
Next to the center, there is LamaLokatsiya, a voluntary fire station. Its employees are ready to promptly respond to a fire in the reserve protected zone at any time. This project is also a Nornickel grantee.
In addition, not far from the visitor center there is a volunteer camp for partners of the Joint Directorate of the Taimyr Reserves – LLC Norilsknickelremont. The project participants were involved in the development and laying of an ecological trail at this place.
Earlier, the Taimyr Reserves scientists created a new book about the flora and fauna of the peninsula.
