The exemplary dance group includes children of reindeer herders and hunters of the Tuhard tundra.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The final rehearsals of the concert items that will be presented in the competition program in Syktyvkar in the Folk Dance category are taking place in Dudinka. 12 young artists of the Taimyr ensemble are going to the Komi Republic with artistic director Semyon Yaptune.

For Taimyr children, this is the first trip to such a serious competition outside the territory.

The competitive bid of the Taimyr residents was supported by the Nornickel company who organized the trip. Representatives of the northern regions of Russia will come to the First Youth Arctic Delphic Games capital – the city of Syktyvkar – for creative competitions of young talents.

Young masters will show their talents in ten categories:piano, violin, art, folk singing, folk dance, photo, pop singing, folk instruments, artistic crafts, culinary art.

The Taimyr ensemble announced three items for the competition. In the first round, the artists will present a stylized Dolgan youth dance and a performance by the honored artist of Russia, the ensemble’s former head Vladimir Sigunei – Ancient Encampment, where the nature and lifestyle of the indigenous peoples of the North are shown in dance stage images. For the second round, the Taimyrians announced the circular ritual dance Heiro – its school-age children version.

“Our team has an average of 35 people. Almost all of my pupils are the children of reindeer herders and hunters from the Tuhard tundra, who live and study in Dudinka, at the boarding school. The guys study with pleasure, look forward to every rehearsal, and I, of course, want them to be able to continue their creative life”, shared the artistic director of the Taimyr ensemble Semyon Yaptune.

For the Taimyr children’s exemplary ensemble, participation in the Arctic Delphic Games is an opportunity to represent the Krasnoyarsk region’s north at the international level. The uniqueness of the team is that it includes Taimyr nomadic peoples children, they will have to perform among almost 600 participants in front of a very competent jury.

Nornickel was sympathetic to the Taimyr indigenous peoples community’s initiative and supported it in organizing the trip.

Earlier, we talked about the performance of the Taimyr folk ensemble Heiro in the UN Palace of Nations in Geneva.
