#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Artists of the Russian Federation honored collective of folk art – Taimyr folk song and dance ensemble of the peoples of the North Heiro performed at the opening ceremony of the Russian photographer Alexander Himushin’s exhibition The world in Faces.
The exposition was opened at the UN office at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, where the ensemble members: Snezhana Sigunei, Dayana Kleshchina, Vitaly Porotov and Artem Porotov performed.
Alexander Himushin’s collection contains 170 artistic photographs of more than 100 indigenous peoples of the world representatives. A significant part of them are the small peoples of Siberia and the Far East.
Among the works presented at the exhibition are photographs of five Taimyr ethnic groups representatives: Dolgans, Nenets, Nganasans, Evenks and Enets. The author took these pictures during a creative trip to Taimyr in March 2018. The set in Dudinka took place in the Taimyr House of Folk Art.
This summer, The World in Faces could be seen in Paris in the main lobby of the UNESCO building. Ethno-photographer Alexander Himushin made a significant part of his work with the support of the Nornickel company.
