#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Education Ministry and the Far East and the Arctic Development Ministry of the Russian Federation were asked to consider the introduction of a year-round language shift for children from among the peoples of the North as part of the Children of the Arctic program.
“The Ministry of Education of Russia, together with the Ministry of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic were asked to create a subprogram to Children of the Arctic, a special direction for organizing year-round language shifts. In particular, to develop an additional general development program Native Language is the Soul of Russia using the resources of the Artek international children’s center and all-Russian children’s camps”, the director of the center for the study, preservation and development of native languages of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Saha (Yakutia), doctor of pedagogical sciences, Feodosia Gabysheva told TASS.
They also proposed to include the federal olympiad for schoolchildren in the native languages and literature of the peoples of Russia in the plan of events for the International Decade of Indigenous Languages.
The Children of the Arctic program allows schoolchildren in grades 5–8 living in the Arctic zone to get a trip to a camp at Russian resorts. The voucher and travel to the holiday destination and back are paid by the state. To participate in the program, parents have to submit an application.
Earlier, a video course on learning one of the rarest languages – Enets – was created. And the Taimyr delegation returned from the international conference on the preservation of indigenous languages.
