#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Tauride Palace hosted the II International conference The World Treasury of Native Languages: To Protect and Cherish. The Context, Policy and Practice of Indigenous Language Preservation.
The event brought together more than 150 specialists from more than 40 countries who discussed the most important issues of preserving the linguistic and cultural heritage of indigenous peoples. Particular attention was paid to the initiatives of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages 2022–2032, implemented under the auspices of UNESCO.

The conference in St. Petersburg became an excellent platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience. Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of international efforts to preserve the cultural and linguistic diversity of indigenous peoples, the Taimyr administration’s press service reports.
Earlier, This Is Taimyr talked about the release of a Dolgan primer and a collection of poems and prose by an Evenki writer. We also reported that our site’s Russian-speaking version is among the eight best regional media outlets in the country.
