The Taimyr World annual competition grants’ amount ranges from 2 to 6.5 million rubles.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Nornickel has announced the Taimyr World annual social project competition launch, which aims to support the indigenous peoples’ traditional way of life.

The competition is an important part of the World of New Opportunities charity program. Family (tribal) communities, non-profit organizations, state and municipal institutions can apply for grants from 2 to 6.5 million rubles.

There are four nominations in the competition, which cover different spheres of life. The geography of project implementation is the Taimyrsky Dolgano-Nenets municipal district of the Krasnoyarsk region. The first competition received 84 applications, of which the company supported 28 projects for a total of 46 million rubles.

“Since Soviet times, Nornickel has maintained cooperation with representatives and associations of the indigenous peoples of Taimyr. The competition has become a logical continuation of the already established partnership practice in the territory.

The success of the first call for projects in 2021-2022 shows the relevance of this initiative. I wish successful teamwork to all applicants for the competition”, said Irina Zhuykova, the Nornickel social policy department’s head.

As a reminder, Nornickel’s program to support the indigenous peoples of the North includes more than 40 events, for which the company allocates two billion rubles. Earlier, Nornickel allocated an additional 100 million rubles to the Taimyr communities, with the support of the company, a pantotherapy center will be opened in Dudinka, and apartments were bought for children from indigenous peoples. In addition, Nornickel provided all schools in Dudinka with laptops and, at the request of family and tribal communities, purchased ATVs and boats.
