#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Nikolay Utkin presented the keys to two new apartments in Dudinka and certificates for household appliances to orphans from among the Taimyr indigenous peoples.
The Nornickel’s Norilsk Division head congratulated the new settlers and noted that their own apartments are a good start in life. Valentina Tuglakova and Lyubov Yarotskaya became the owners of their homes.
For these purposes, Nornickel’s investments in 2022 were supposed to amount to five million rubles, but the company decided to allocate an additional four million. As a result, Taimyr orphans got five apartments, just like last year.
“The program to support indigenous minorities is gaining momentum”, said Nikolay Utkin. “The result is housing in the villages, computer classes for children. Large projects are provided with funding, which is important in today’s realities. Big business has also been affected by the sanctions policy. Nevertheless, all our social programs, including those related to the socio-economic development of Taimyr, have remained and will be implemented in full”.
Today, 18 projects are being implemented on the territory of Taimyr with the support of the company. This is primarily the development of traditional types of economic activity. Next year, at the initiative of the communities, Nornickel plans to purchase mobile houses for production sites”.
Recall that the company’s projects as a whole cover seven areas: the development of traditional types of economic activities of indigenous ethnic groups, housing construction in settlements, healthcare, education, culture, sports, and tourism. In total, the program included more than 40 events.
Earlier, traditional tents were purchased for the Taimyr nomads at the Nornickel’s expense.
