#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Social benefits are provided to indigenous peoples of the Krasnoyarsk region’s north who lead a traditional way of life – reindeer herders and fishermen.
Taimyr, Evenkia and the Turuhansk district residents who need housing, live on social rent, and have a plot of land under the right of ownership, lease or free use can count on such support.
“This year, houses for northerners will be built from timber. This was the residents’ wish. New houses will be built in the Evenkia villages of Essey, Ekonda and Yukta, in the Taimyr villages of Nosok, Popigai and Heta, as well as in the Turuhansk’s Sovetskaya Rechka. The amount of social benefits provided to applicants ranges from 6.5 to 10.1 million rubles, depending on the area of residence”, explained Anton Narchuganov, head of the regional Agency for the Development of Northern Territories and Support of Indigenous Minorities.
The construction of houses for northerners has been underway since 2011 as part of the regional program to improve the living conditions of reindeer herders and fishermen. In total, since the program beginning, 240 families of indigenous peoples of the North have moved to new housing.
