#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Nornickel experts took part in the 10th Nevsky International Environmental Congress in St. Petersburg.
Irina Zhuykova, the Nornickel social policy department director, spoke in detail about the company’s approaches to changing the urban environment through the local population involvement at the panel discussion Urbanism in eco-cities: a comfortable environment for the new time. As an example, she used the Nikel village in the Murmansk region.
“People themselves decide what kind of business should appear and what areas are priorities. In the case of the Pechenga District, today this is a new point on the tourist map of the region, ready to receive guests from all over the country”, shared Irina Zhuykova.
For the first time in 2023, a youth day was held as part of the Nevsky Congress. The Combine of Kindness volunteers held Arctic lessons and master classes, and activists of the Nornickel IMAKE engineering marathon presented their environmental inventions prototypes.
“They presented a plastic recycling extruder for a 3D printer, an Eco-bear-robot, an eco-shrinker for recycling, an oil leak monitoring system device. Also, young inventors held a master class Second life of things. Participants learned about the possibilities of reusing items that are usually sent to the trash”, the company representative said.
The event result was a resolution with key proposals for the eco-direction development in the country.
Recall that environmentally friendly metal production is a trend for the future Nornickel development.
