The company's products will provide a transition to a green economy, which means it will be in demand for decades to come.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The low-carbon strategy for the global economy development and actions to curb the rise of average temperatures give Norilsk Nickel a unique opportunity to become one of the leaders in the production of “green” metals necessary for the energy transition. This thesis has become one of the main points in the company’s sustainability report for 2022.

Experts praised Norilsk Nickel’s performance in the area of ESG (environmental, social, and corporate governance), despite all the challenges that the company had to face in operating and marketing activities, implementing strategic projects and maintaining financial stability.

The strategic priorities approved by the company until 2030 include a radical improvement in the environmental situation in the regions of presence, modernization of existing and construction of new facilities in order to increase base metals production, as well as maintain financial stability.

“Norilsk Nickel products will remain in demand for decades to come. The transition to a green economy is primarily a change in the two sectors that make the greatest negative contribution to climate change: transport and energy. And it happened so that the entire basket of Norilsk Nickel metals is involved in this transformation. They are used in all new energy generation systems: wind, solar, tidal, needed for the production of wires, batteries, transformers. Electric vehicles require more nickel, cobalt and copper. As well as hydrogen transport. The key challenge here is the ability to produce these metals responsibly, sustainably and without impacting the environment. This is a trend for the future development of the company”, emphasized Anton Berlin, Norilsk Nickel vice president and sales and commerce head.

Earlier, the stars of basketball team CSKA visited the Nornickel’s production facilities for the first time and saw the giant machines.
