#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. This year, Taimyr will celebrate Reindeer Herder’s Day with reindeer sled races and northern multi-sport competitions, as reported by the official portal of the Krasnoyarsk region.
For the people of the North, Reindeer Herder’s Day is not just a holiday; it’s one of the most significant events of the year, symbolizing respect for the traditions and culture of the indigenous peoples of the North, their achievements, and their connection to nature.
In 2025, the celebration of Reindeer Herder’s Day will take place in several settlements across Taimyr. A comprehensive program of cultural and sporting events has been planned.
The festivities will be held in Dudinka (April 5), Tuhard (April 12), Nosok, Syndassko and Novorybnaya (April 19), Popigai (April 26).
The program will feature a variety of cultural activities and traditional competitions, including reindeer sled races, horseback riding, northern multi-sport events, traditional wrestling, and various games. Contest winners will receive practical prizes that they can use in their everyday lives and work.
Additionally, guests will have the chance to taste traditional dishes and visit exhibitions showcasing the culture of northern peoples.
Reindeer Herder’s Day is celebrated annually, marking the transition from winter to spring in the yearly cycle of domestic northern reindeer husbandry.
