#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. On the basis of the unified electronic catalog of Moscow libraries, a subsection of Russian literature of indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East will be created.
Now the unified catalog of the Moscow library contains about 30 000 volumes dedicated to the Arctic and the peoples of the North. It will be necessary to carry out work on the rubrication of the fund and the transfer of rare publications into electronic format. And most importantly, to get from the regions modern educational and fiction literature about indigenous peoples and in their native languages. Through them, future generations will be able to learn the languages and the culture.
“It is highly likely that the professional work of specialists in a few years will make it possible to obtain electronic versions of the North peoples’ publications from this world’s largest online library about the Arctic”, the Saha (Yakutia) Republic Academy of Sciences’ ethno-social and ethno-economic research department’s head, the ETNOGIS Interacademic database’s Academic Council’s head Irina Samsonova told TASS reporters.
Earlier in Norilsk, the Fairytale Taimyr collection was presented, which included 18 little-known myths. Russia is preparing a new methodology for learning the languages of the indigenous peoples of the Arctic. The Arctic Development Project Office has launched a video course on which you can learn one of the rarest languages on the planet – Enets. This Is Taimyr also said that an interactive atlas about the indigenous peoples of the North would be translated into English.
