#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Norilsk Development Agency’s X-WATERS Plateau Putorana project is recognized as the best sports route according to the Route of the Year – IX All-Russian Tourist Award – results.
The final was held in Ufa as part of the II International Forum on Ethnotourism. The authors of 296 projects from 63 regions of the country presented their initiatives to the expert council members. The winners were determined in 36 categories.
The first and only one of its kind swimming camp in the Arctic is organized for the World Open Water Swimming Championship stage preparation and holding period.
The camp is located at lake Lama, the water temperature on the surface of which rarely rises above +6 degrees even on the hottest July days.
The camp’s sports program includes lectures on cold swimming, training in breathing techniques, test dives under a doctor’s supervision and, as a final, a swim at a chosen distance: 50, 100, 1000 or 1852 meters.
The excursion program combines trekking and photo tours to picturesque waterfalls and plateau peaks, from which space landscapes open up.
The Grand Prix, won by the Norilsk Development Agency, allowed the Krasnoyarsk region to take the 12th line of the list of 49 regions of the Russian Federation. The Republic of Altai, Arhangelsk, Belgorod, Bryansk, Volgograd, Novgorod, Ryazan regions and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug scored the same number of points as Krasnoyarsk.
The Route of the Year award was established in 2014 as an industry award following the results of an open All-Russian project competition for achievements in the creation and development of tourist routes and excursion programs. For eight years, over 2 700 projects from 85 regions of the country have submitted applications for the competition.
