#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The final of the Siberia-2022 district stage of the all-Russian tourism award – Route of the Year – was held in Novokuznetsk. The expert council was presented with 65 projects from nine regions of the Siberian Federal District. The winners were determined in 26 nominations. The X-WATERS Plateau Putorana presented by the Norilsk Development Agency was recognized as the best sports route.
The first and only one of its kind swimming camp in the Arctic is organized for the period of preparation and holding of the World Open Water Swimming Championship stage, the NDA tourism development specialist Anzhela Tkachenko told the award experts.
The camp is located on the fjord lake Lama, the water temperature on the surface of which rarely rises above +6 degrees Celsius on the hottest July days.
Lama is the pearl of the Putorana Plateau, recognized as a UNESCO world natural heritage site. Far from civilization, in the land of thousands of lakes and waterfalls, camp participants can fully concentrate on the rich sports and tourism programs of the camp.
The sports program includes lectures on cold swimming, training in breathing techniques, trial dives under the supervision of a doctor and, as a final, a swim at a chosen distance: 50, 100, 1000 or 1852 meters.
The excursion program of the camp includes trekking and photo tours to picturesque waterfalls and plateau peaks, from which space landscapes open up. The route presented by the NDA got the right to participate in the national final of the award, which will be held in Ufa in the fall.
The Route of the Year award was established in 2014 as the industry award following the results of an open all-Russian project competition for achievements in the creation and development of tourist routes and excursion programs. For eight years, over 2,700 projects from 85 regions of the country have been submitted for the competition.
