#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The most difficult swim course was tested by the founder of X-WATERS, Alexander Bazanov, and the head of the Norilsk Development Agency Maxim Mironov.
The X-WATERS Yenisey project is being implemented by the Norilsk Development Agency and the X-WATERS team with the support of Nornickel and the Taimyr administration.
The test drive took place on Thursday, July 11th. The leaders tested the most difficult swim route, five kilometers long, and assessed its safety in order to provide participants with useful recommendations on how to overcome the distance on the day of the swim, July 13.
“The Yenisey Father met us today with a good oncoming wave, it was quite stormy. The feeling of a real sea”, Maxim Mironov wrote on his page on social networks.
At the time of Alexander Bazanov and Maxim Mironov’s swim, the water temperature in the Yenisey was plus 15 degrees, wind gusts of 12 meters per second, a wave of more than 0.6 meters against the route direction.
Swimmers recommend that their athletes should swim ‘crocodile’ in such conditions, that is, without losing sight of the landmark in order to maintain the route trajectory.
However, there is no reason to worry. For Saturday, July 13, weather forecasters give a good weather forecast. The air temperature during the day is expected to be +20…+23 degrees, partly cloudy, it may be windy and cool in the evening. Participants and guests are advised to take warm clothing.
