#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Yamal musk oxen living in the Taimyr village of Volochanka are now grazing freely in the tundra. Denis Terebihin, the initiator of the creation of the first Russian farm-camp for the breeding and domestication of musk oxen, announced this in his social networks.
“Musk oxen are now practically free pasturing, after a harsh winter and dry fodder they rejoice in greenery. They are not sociable guys, to see them, you have to find them first”, Terebihin wrote.
While the animals are feasting on the green grass, their owner has begun harvesting hay for the winter.
“I need a lot of hay, so I started mowing. There is still little green grass, but I mixed it with the old, dry one, I think it will come in handy”, said Denis Terebihin.
Recall that for a farm for breeding musk oxen in Volochanka, a land area of 118 thousand hectares was allocated. It is planned that the farm will open new jobs for the residents of the village and help restore the population of musk oxen in Taimyr.
Before moving from Salehard to Volochanka, the musk ox calves had come a long way. For more than a day, the animals with their companions waited out the blizzard in Norilsk, where the Nornickel company provided loaders and special transport.
