#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. One of the largest and most authoritative ethnic festivals in Russia, the XXI international festival of ethnic music and crafts World of Siberia, will be held in Shushenskoye from July 10 to 13, 2025. Applications for participation will be accepted starting on January 15.
“The World of Siberia festival is a powerful cultural brand of our region, as well as a meeting place for talented people with open hearts, a place where music filled with centuries-old history and traditions sounds. Every year, the festival is growing its circle of fans – this means that people are interested in cultural events of this format. And each new World of Siberia festival is an opportunity for more people to get acquainted with the musical and craft culture of their region, country, as well as the ethnic culture of other countries”, said Arkady Zinov, minister of culture of the Krasnoyarsk region.
Anyone can attend the open-air summer festival. Admission to all events, including concerts by invited stars, is free.
Every year, hundreds of amateur and professional performers of ethnic music and dance, and masters of arts and crafts take part in the grand event. In 2024, on its twentieth anniversary, the festival was awarded the patronage of UNESCO, receiving the organization’s auspices for the third time and recognition of its high status in the international cultural arena.
The anniversary World of Siberia gathered 90 thousand guests from different cities and countries, once again updating its own attendance record. 63 nominees competed for the World cups: 51 in the ethnomusic competition and 12 in the crafts competition. For the first time, Norilsk craftswomen from the Galaks club took part in the festival and worthily declared themselves and their talents.
Especially for the festival, the craftswomen made a gift to the organizers – they felted a panel with the festival symbols, which will remain in the funds of the Shushenskoye museum-reserve and will be periodically exhibited at thematic exhibitions along with other exhibits.
The northern craftswomen became the best in the Modern Decorative and Applied Arts category, for which they got a diploma and a prize of 60 thousand rubles to develop their studio.
Recall that the ethnofestival in Shushenskoye dates back to 2003. The founder of the event is the Culture Ministry of the Krasnoyarsk region. The organizer is the Center for International and Regional Cultural Relations. The international festival of ethnic music and crafts World of Siberia is held within the national project Culture with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the official portal of the regional government reports.
