#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. This year the international festival Siberia World will be held for the 20th time. In the anniversary year, from July 11 to 14, it will bring together 63 nominees from the Krasnoyarsk region and other regions: 12 in the masters competition and 51 in the ethnomusical competition.
“For the first time we were nominated for participation in the World of Siberia festival during the pandemic. It took place online. This year we became nominees again and reached the second round. In Shushenskoye, Larisa Vavilova and I will represent the Galax arts and crafts workshop. We are bringing collective works that almost the entire club worked on. Individual works will also be presented – mine and Svetlana Valentionok’s”, said Olga Tereshonok, the Galax club head.
For the exhibition of masters’ creations, which will be held in the Shushenskoye museum complex, Norilsk women are bringing a 12-minute video with them. It will tell guests and festival participants about one of the oldest clubs – in 2023, Galax celebrated its 30th anniversary. The mainland residents will see the beauty of the northern city and the place where these amazing women live, work and create. It is worth adding that the artistic curator of Galax Andrey Popov, a teacher at the Talnah children’s art school, played a significant role in the creative development of Norilsk craftswomen.
“We present a traditional technique – felting. The club’s craftswomen have been working in this technique for 15 years. We have rich creative experience. We love wool and various experiments with it, so at the festival we will open up the world of felting to participants and guests. Without being modest, I will say that Larisa Vavilova, with whom I will represent Norilsk, is currently one of the best felters in Big Norilsk. Larisa constantly learns from other masters and improves her skill level. World of Siberia sets a high standard, and it is very interesting to see the works of other creators and get acquainted with them”, Olga Tereshonok adds.
From the festival, craftswomen expect new knowledge and creative inspiration, impressions and a great mood.
“I would like to add that this trip is possible thanks to the support of Inna Davydova, the Norilsk administration’s culture and art department’s head, as well as the city culture center’s director Sergey Glazkov. The city culture center’s staff helped us make a video. So the whole world prepare us for the trip”, Olga Tereshonok explains.
It is worth adding that the works that go to the region are quite big. For example, the size of one of the panels is two meters by one and a half. So participants and guests of the Siberia World festival will have much to see.
