#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Taimyr authorities are actively cooperating with business in order to develop tourism on the peninsula. It is supported by the Nornickel, the Norilsk Development Agency and the Arctic Development Project Office. This was told by the head of the Taimyr municipal district’s administration’s department of culture Valentina Satskaya. According to her, successful projects are born thanks to such cooperation. For example: the tourist and recreational cluster Arctic, the multifunctional tourist complex Zatundra, the visitor center in the Ust-Avam village and the ethnocomplex Legends of Tundra.
“The main tourism directions in the region are cultural, ethnographic and ecological tourism. Thus, the farming communities Tiyaha, Mukustur, Harp and Huale are promoting the indigenous peoples’ traditions and culture on the territory. Dikson, which has important geostrategic and logistical significance, is of great interest to tourists”, said Valentina Satskaya.
Another promising direction for tourism in Taimyr is the Hatanga rural settlement: there are a unique Mammoth Museum and the northernmost Daurian larch forest Ary-Mas.
“The Hatanga village is considered as the most important transport hub within the tours to the North Pole. The village will celebrate its 400th anniversary in 2026. A new terminal building has already been opened, the local Zapolyarye hotel has been reconstructed, and there are plans to create a cultural and ethnographic center and a tourist cluster by this significant date. Also, the Norilsk Development Agency organized Hatanga tour guides’ training and certification”, added the culture department’s head.
Valentina Satskaya noted that the cultural department’s employees are also trained:
“20 people trained as tour guides from the Taimyr territory. Now we are trying to form a team that will become an assistant to the Arctic Center of Culture. Some tourists are already contacting us, requesting excursions. We must be ready for this”.
Earlier we told about the new observation deck in Norilsk and the Russian Postal Tourism.
