#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. What would happen if, during a literature class, you call the Norilsk Polar drama theater to the front? You might think that sounds like a strange and provocative question… And yet? It will be an opportunity for a creative exploration of literary texts.
This is how the new project is described at the Polar drama theater. During the project, the actors will bring a virtual literary character to life, evoking emotional responses from the audience:
“It’s a given that performers have a special relationship with the author’s text, an experience of dialogue, a journey of living through it, creating a tapestry of feelings, memories, and the geography of hopes and disappointments… There is no theater without this. This is the foundation of everything – the craft of acting. The most ancient and essential theatrical skill is to express someone else’s words as if they were your own, to truly feel another’s pain, fear, hatred, love, and despair, so that you can convey it to others without spilling it”, they announce at Mayakovka (as they call the Norilsk Polar drama theatre named after V. Mayakovsky. – editor).
This rare ability to understand and listen to others is at the heart of an actor’s work with literary texts, say representatives of the Zapolyarny Drama Theater. They emphasize that teaching and learning this skill is important not just at the blackboard:
“The new project Theater at the School Blackboard offers Norilsk schoolchildren the chance to hear texts from foundational works of Russian literature performed by actors, as well as engage in discussions about what they have read. Currently, we are working on the fairy tales of Saltykov-Shchedrin and the works of Mayakovsky, and later, we will prepare Pushkin’s Little Tragedies. We will showcase independent works by actors Yury Shadukin, Stepan Mamoykin, and Vladislav Moldovanov. The project is being curated by directors Timur Fairuzov and Anna Babanova”, the theater notes.
Previously, This Is Taimyr reported that Norilsk Seasons would start in the city.
