#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. In the Krasnoyarsk region, residents of Taimyr, Evenkia, Turuhansk, Severo-Yenisey, Yenisey and Tyuhtet regions can receive grants for the traditional crafts business projects development.
Participants applications are accepted at the Agency for the Development of the Northern Territories and the Support of Indigenous Minorities from June 13.
This year, in addition to the usual nominations for organizing the products collection, extraction and processing, the ethnic villages creation and familiarizing children and adolescents with their native culture, there will be two completely new ones. We are talking about the acquisition of domestic reindeer for the breeding purpose or reindeer herding, sledding and hunting dogs.
“These nominations appeared in the grant competition list not by chance – the northerners themselves showed the initiative with the support of the deputy corps. New projects are designed to provide employment for the indigenous population, stimulate citizens’ own entrepreneurial initiatives,” explained Anton Narchuganov, head of the Agency for the Northern Territories Development and the Krasnoyarsk region Indigenous Minorities Support.
The competition is held within the framework of the regional program ‘Preservation and development of the traditional way of life and economic activity of indigenous peoples’. The amount of grant support ranges from 200 thousand to five million rubles.
According to the regional government’s official portal, over the past three years, with the help of state support, new shops for processing meat, fish, wild plants, sewing shops and workshops for the national souvenirs production have been opened in the region’s northern territories. More than 40 legal entities, individual entrepreneurs and citizens received subsidies.
More than 15 events are devoted to the Arctic and the Northern Sea Route development at one of the largest economic and business events in the world – the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which started on June 14.
Earlier, in the Dudinka center, on the Taimyr Attraction square, an ethnic visitor center Tiyaha was opened, which is the Hanaway community and Norilsk Nickel joint project. The community helps develop ethnic tourism.
