Reindeer herders and hunters to be supported

February 06, 2025

The program aims to enhance the life quality for people living traditional lifestyles.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Hunters and reindeer herders in northern Krasnoyarsk region will receive government support for their economic activities.

Members of indigenous small-numbered peoples in Evenkiya, Turuhansky, North Yenisey, Yenisey, and Tyuhtetsky districts can access boats, motors, and fishing nets to help them pursue their trades. Additionally, reindeer herders in Taimyr will receive medical kits containing essential medicines and supplies suitable for tundra conditions.

Applications for this support, which can also be submitted through multifunctional centers, are currently being accepted by the Agency for the Development of Northern Territories and Support for Indigenous Small-Numbered Peoples of Krasnoyarsk Region, as well as the district administrations of Evenkiya, Taimyr, and Turuhansk district, according to the Krasnoyarsk region’s official portal.

It’s important to note that costly items like boats and motors are provided once every five to seven years, while less expensive goods such as fishing nets and traps are available every three years. Medical kits can be obtained annually.
