#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of Reindeer Herder Day, the Taimyr Museum of Local Lore opened the exhibition Taimyr Nomads. The exhibition is dedicated to the holiday history, the people through whose efforts the industry lives today, and the peculiarities of the profession. It presents photographs, documents, and reindeer herders’ household items.
At the exposition opening, Nikolay Maimago, the district’s deputy head for the Taimyr indigenous peoples’ affairs and agriculture and fishing issues, spoke about the achievements and problems in the industry in recent years.
The reindeer herding agricultural production cooperative Yara-Tanama’s chairman Vadim Vango was the guest of honor at the event. He shared his vision for the development of reindeer husbandry in Taimyr and spoke about his own experience.
The exhibition Taimyr Nomads can be visited until May 6.
Let us remind you that festive events for Reindeer Herder Day will start in Taimyr on April 13 in the villages of Popigai, Syndassko and Tuhard. And on April 20 – in the villages of Novorybnaya and Nosok.
Previously, the Taimyr Museum of Local Lore published the magazine Museum Bulletin, and a virtual concert hall operates at the museum.
