#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Taimyr Museum of Local Lore has released a new issue of the Museum Bulletin magazine. Without exaggeration, this is a long-awaited event, because sixteen years have passed since the previous edition.
“Such a long break is due to the fact that the museum was moving to a new location. Only when everything got back to normal, we did decide to resume publishing our magazine”, explained deputy director for scientific work Vladimir Roubitelev.
The magazine was published in a circulation of 120 copies, some copies were donated to Taimyr libraries, and some can still be purchased at the museum kiosk. The collection contains nine scientific articles on ethnography, local history, ecology and museology.
The authors tell readers about the Taimyr monuments, the first polar city of Mangazeya history and the peculiarities of territorial division by nomadic councils in the Hatanga region in the 30s of the last century.
Also from the newsletter you can learn about trading activities in Taimyr in the second half of the 19th century and about one of the outstanding representatives of the Nganasan clan Ninonda – Tandelu Porbin. In addition, the collection contains articles telling about the osteological collection in the museum’s collection and rare book fund.
“We plan to publish the magazine every year, but next time we will publish it in electronic format so that more people can get acquainted with it”, added Vladimir Roubitelev.
