#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. As the leading institution in the section of Arctic museums within the Union of Museums of Russia, the REM has organized several major exhibition projects focused on the Arctic for this year.
The Arctic section of the union includes museums that are linked to the region not only by geographic criteria but also through their dedicated collections. In total, there are over a hundred such museums across Russia, according to the Go Arctic portal.
For Arctic Day, the REM is reintroducing its exhibition Arctic – Inhabited Land, which offers visitors a chance to embark on a journey through polar landscapes. Guests can view artifacts from all regions of the Arctic zone of Russia, including a Pomor boat, Chukchi sleds, the interior of a fishing hut from the White sea, a Nenets sanctuary, and representations of a Karelian rune-singer and a Selkup shaman.
In September 2025, the REM will also showcase part of the unique collections of the renowned ethnographer Sergey Rudenko (1885–1969).
This year, the museum will present two exhibitions as part of the Energy of the Arctic: Technologies and Traditions project, focusing on the games and toys of the Arctic peoples of Siberia and the Russian Far East.
Additionally, the Russian Ethnographic Museum continues to enhance its inclusive programs. In January, it opened a new section titled Touching the Arctic within the Arctic – Inhabited Land exhibition, specifically designed for blind and visually impaired visitors.
Earlier, Taimyr Telegraph reported on the opening of the exhibition The Sixtiers at the art gallery of the Norilsk Museum.
