#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. This exhibition showcases two works by the renowned artist from the Norilsk Museum’s collection, along with pieces from other notable creators of the 1960s, whose names are prominently featured in the history of Russian visual arts.
These artists include both folk and honored figures from our country, whose creative journeys began at the intersection of the 1950s and 1960s – a time often referred to as the era of the Sixtiers, as noted by the Museum of Norilsk:
“Regarding the anniversary celebrant Gely Korzhev (1925–2012), his works are true gems in the artistic collection of the Museum of Norilsk. Both paintings reflect his favorite genre of still life, capturing objects with a rich history, including his famous heavy pots and utensils, which embody the era and the complex stories of the people. Korzhev is one of the most significant figures in Russian art, often described as the last great Russian realist of the 20th century. As a representative of the post-war generation, he made a powerful entrance onto the artistic scene in the late 1950s and quickly became one of the leading figures among the legendary Sixtiers”.
The museum emphasizes that true art enthusiasts and lovers in Norilsk should not miss this exhibition. It will be on display at the Norilsk Museum’s art gallery until March 30.
