June 14, 2023

The vehicle is designed to carry passengers on winter and temporary roads.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Arctic bus Ural-427701-75 was presented in Chelyabinsk at the All-Russian forum From Import Substitution to Technological Sovereignty. The vehicle is designed to carry passengers on temporary roads and winter roads at temperatures down to minus 50 degrees.

Plant Ural together with South Ural State University and Moscow State Technical University named after Bauman prepared proposals for the creation of a high-tech serial production of a vehicle that could be used for the safe transportation of passengers and social sphere mobile points in the Far North regions. The proposals were supported by the Ministry of Higher Education and Science of the Russian Federation. They formed the basis of a comprehensive project.

What is a unique Arctic bus? The frame-metal one-volume body is mounted on the chassis frame on vibration mounts. It is made with glued glazing of a reduced area, but with an increased thickness of the panels’ insulation. The optimal temperature regime in the cabin is achieved thanks to an improved ventilation and heating system. The conditioner is equipped with a system of air streams distribution on seats rows. Each passenger seat is equipped with a USB socket, and reclining tables are equipped with built-in wireless charging. The Arctic bus can comfortably accommodate up to 22 passengers.

Work on the Arctic Bus project as part of the state program for the Russia’s Arctic zone socio-economic development began in March 2021.

Earlier we wrote that, the Russian government promised to allocate 39.7 billion rubles for the construction of the world’s largest research vessel for the Arctic. It has already been given a name – Ivan Frolov.

We also reported that a team of extreme lovers set two world records in the Arctic. Underground vehicles were tested at the Zapolyarny mine in Norilsk, and northern buses drove out onto the streets of the city.
