#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Alana, a little female musk ox rescued in Taimyr, already feels at home in the Krasnoyarsk flora and fauna park Royev Roochey.
The animal is now in quarantine under the constant veterinarians and zoologists supervision. Most of all, the zoo keepers are glad that the cub is eating well, the baby has gained six kilograms in a week in Royev Roochey.
“There are timid hopes that everything will turn out well. New toys appeared in the enclosure – a large red plastic ball with which she plays football with a zoologist, she also butts it. A scratching board has appeared, on which she can rub her sides, and if necessary, butt”, the zoo workers said.
Zoologists note that no one taught Alana to butt – this is innate in musk oxen.
Recall that the calf was rescued by employees of a diamond mining company in the north of Taimyr – a small female clung to her recently deceased mother’s body. While the documents were being prepared for her moving to Krasnoyarsk, the cub lived with the fishermen, then she was transferred to Hatanga, and from there to Royev Roochey.
Earlier, Norilsk people rescued a hungry, emaciated polar bear – she wandered around the city outskirts and ate in the garbage dumps. Now Martha lives in a unique enclosure in Royev Roochey.
In the Moscow Zoo, they are rehabilitating another polar bear rescued in Taimyr – Dixon with his hind legs paresis after a severe injury. The zoologists have equipped a special pool in the enclosure, where the bear catches live fish. Keepers work with Dixon every day – they teach new tricks and stimulate the limbs.
