#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. According to the authors of the project, they want to make Russia more understandable to foreigners who would discover amazing monuments of our nature. It is noteworthy that out of twenty positions in the rating, the Putorana plateau, located in the northwest of the Central Siberian Plateau, is in the top ten.
“This unique plateau in remote northern Siberia is riddled with ancient traps – deep gorges through which volcanic lava flowed hundreds of thousands of years ago. It is a land of rocks, waterfalls and stunning lakes. The area of this mountain plateau is almost 250 000 square kilometers. For comparison, the Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona covers about 5 000 square kilometers”, the project’s website says.
We add that from the Krasnoyarsk region, the Kinzelyuk waterfall, located in the hard-to-reach area of the Eastern Sayan Mountains, was included in the list at number 14. Lake Baikal, the valley of geysers in Kamchatka and Karelia took the top three in the rating.
As This Is Taymyr previously wrote, the Putorana Territory project won a grant of half a million rubles. Earlier it was reported that the creation of a full-fledged infrastructure of the Arctic tourist cluster required more than 5.2 billion rubles.
