Polar bear from Dikson hit by car

September 12, 2022

Moscow veterinarians have done a tomography of the Red Book predator.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The bear rescued from Dixon island got injuries in a car collision. Experts came to this conclusion based on the computed tomography results.

“After a thorough examination and computed tomography, the diagnosis of veterinarians is as follows: the bear has multiple shot wounds, including in the head, chest cavity, soft tissues and spine. There are signs of a strong side impact: extensive myositis and broken ribs. Most likely, he was hit by a car”, Svetlana Radionova, the Rosprirodnadzor federal nature preserving organization head, wrote on her Telegram channel.

According to her, law enforcement agencies will deal with the situation. In the near future, a neurologist will come to the bear, who was named Dikson: he will monitor the animal’s condition and make a final verdict.

“I thank everyone who, together with us, worries about the polar bear. Unfortunately, now all we have to do is not lose hope and believe that the specialists will be able to save Dikson’s life”, Svetlana Radionova added.

Recall that last week the seriously injured polar bear was found immobilized on Dikson island. Environmental and law enforcement specialists from Moscow, Krasnoyarsk and Norilsk, as well as veterinarians from the Moscow Zoo, organized an operation to rescue the animal, in which Nornickel took an active part.

Earlier, This Is Taimyr reported that polar bears in the Royev Roochey Krasnoyarsk flora and fauna park would move to new enclosures. We also wrote that Nornickel will count polar bears.
