Taimyr residents took many awards at the Treasures of the North international exhibition.

The people of Taimyr performed well at the Treasures of the North. Masters and Artists of Russia XV International Exhibition-Fair. Representatives of five Taimyr communities told Muscovites and guests of the capital about the culture and life of the indigenous peoples of the peninsula.

As reported in the Taimyr Dolgan-Nenets municipal district’s administration, the fair was attended by the Nya Tansa, Stary Avam, Agapa, Mukustur, Urular communities, Heiro – the honored collective of folk art of Russia Taimyr folk song and dance ensemble of the peoples of the North, employees of the district administration and cultural institutions of Taimyr, members of the Indigenous Minorities Association (IMA) of the Krasnoyarsk region.

“Such contests allow representatives of the indigenous ethnic groups of the North, Siberia and the Far East to show their culture and way of life, share their history, exchange experience in arts and crafts and handicrafts,” the administration said.

The Taimyr delegation won many awards based on the results of the competitive programs. Svetlana Aksenova, chairwoman of the Old Avam community, became the second in the Contemporary Ethnic Collection nomination with the Felt Inspiration work, and together with Svetlana Popova she won the first prize in the Traditional Collection nomination, presenting traditional Nganasan clothes.

Silver in the Contemporary Ethnic Collection category was awarded to Valeria Bolgova, head of the Nya Tansa community, with the Avaam Novels collection. In the Youth or Children’s Collection nomination Taimyrians became winners. Valeria Bolgova and Svetlana Aksenova were engaged in tailoring, and Sabrina Togi presented national clothes. The Taimyr folk song and dance ensemble of the North peoples Heiro won the Grand Prix of the dance and song competition in the Dance Creativity category.

Anna Tsaregorodtseva became the first in the open championship of Russia in dances of indigenous peoples of the Kamchatka region, which was held for the first time this year. In the Best Work of National Folk Art competition Vyacheslav Beti won the bronze medal, presenting his work in the artistic processing of bone and horn technique.

According to the results of the Northern Look – 2020 photo competition in the Northern Color nomination Daniil Yaptune with the Tesedo Petr Varchivich photo took third place. Also, the third place was taken by representatives of Taimyr in the Nomadic dwelling of the peoples of the North competition. Guests in the traditional dwelling were greeted by Nina Bettu, head of the Kergen family club of the Urular Evenk community.

The Agapa community won the bronze medal in the gastronomic National Cuisine of the Peoples of the North competition, the polar delicacies were presented by Sergey and Zinaida Veselovsky. And the winner of the Mother Earth. Indigenous peoples. Fish International Festival deservedly turned out to be the chairman of the Nya tansa community Valery Bolgova, she was noted for the most original story about the national dish.

Thanks to the participation of the Taimyr people, the regional team of the Krasnoyarsk region became the silver medalist of the festival. This year, the Nganasan culture was presented in the Best Regional Exposition competition. A chum was installed, where Svetlana Kudryakova, a member of the Union of Nganasan local public organization, welcomed the guests and talked about the culture and life of the northern people.

Also, everyone could take part in master classes and rituals, see bone-carving products of Taimyr masters Vyacheslav Beti, Vasily Batagai, and Yury Kosterkin and paintings by Nganasan artist Motyumyaku Turdagin from the funds of the Taimyr House of Folk Art.

All participants received diplomas, winners and prize-winners of competitions got cups. The heads of five communities were also marked with letters of thanks.

As the This Is Taimyr reported earlier, the trip was organized by the department for the affairs of the indigenous peoples of Taimyr and the issues of agriculture and fishing of the district administration. Financial assistance was provided by the Nornickel Polar Division.
