#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Nornickel has signed an agreement with Gazprom Oil to provide comprehensive services to increase well productivity at the Severo-Soleninskoye gas condensate field. The project will restore and increase production from wells that supply gas to the company’s production facilities and the city of Norilsk.
The Severo-Soleninskoye gas condensate field on the border of the Yamalo-Nenets autonomous district and Krasnoyarsk region has been developed since 1984 and is classified as mature. The site has a complex geological structure – zones of abnormally low reservoir pressure predominate. This requires special approaches and solutions for drilling, operating and reconstructing wells.
Gazprom Oil will provide comprehensive services to increase the productivity of 11 of the 62 operating wells at the Severo-Soleninskoye field. The project includes an engineering stage, repairs using modern engineering solutions, cleaning wells from salts, geophysical surveys and other works. The integrated service will allow repairing wells without killing them.
After the work is completed, the partners will assess the possibilities for replicating the approaches to other Nornickel fields. Gazprom Oil and Nornickel are also discussing the development of cooperation in other areas related to increasing production efficiency and implementing joint projects.
Currently, the volume of gas production from 11 wells is 215 thousand cubic meters per day. After the repair is completed, it is expected to increase to 530 thousand cubic meters per day, or more than two and a half times.
“The goal of the project is to increase the reliability of gas supply to Norilsk and enterprises of the Norilsk industrial region. By engaging Gazprom Oil in cooperation and using the most modern technologies, we solve several problems at once: we use optimal solutions for influencing the productive formation during repairs and at the same time achieve the maximum effect in increasing gas recovery from existing wells. If these problems are solved effectively, we will continue to use these technologies at other wells”, said Evgeny Fedorov, vice president of Energy at Nornickel.
“While implementing large-scale projects, we have accumulated extensive experience and expertise in the field of well construction, operation and repair. Today, they not only help us in solving the problems facing the company, but are also in demand in industry. Gazprom Oil has formed approaches to the implementation of complex projects in the areas of exploration and production. We are ready to share our expertise with our partners to solve their production problems, as well as to overcome industry challenges facing Russian industry”, said Sergey Doctor, of the Gazprom Oil production department’s head.
Earlier, Nornickel became the best employer according to RBC.
