Projects to improve environmental safety have been proposed by the company's employees.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The company’s production and technical department, together with the Kola MMC and the Gipronickel Institute, submitted three applications for participation in the IN’HUB International Invention and Technology Competition.

The initiator of the competition for the most promising and ready to be used in practice in the real sector of the economy of innovative developments and inventions was Nornickel.

Over the past ten years, since the founding of the coordinating center for managing intellectual assets at Nornickel’s headquarters, more than 20 patents for inventions and utility models created by the company’s employees have been received. The company decided to submit three projects to participate in the competition. All of them are aimed at improving the efficiency and environmental safety of production and were introduced during the modernization at the company’s production sites.

The Expert Council was presented with:

continuous converting technology – it allows to solve the main environmental problems of copper production. In the new converting process, the sulfur contained in the raw material is converted into a continuous stream of highly concentrated gases suitable for disposal;

roasting – leaching – electroextraction technology – it ensures the environmental standards fulfillment by obtaining a constant flow of SO2-containing gases and their utilization;

the solid waste thermal processing method by melting in a liquid bath – ensures the neutralization of all harmful and toxic compounds, organic and inorganic volatile substances.

Earlier, Nornickel and the Moscow Innovation Cluster opened a call for applications for participation in Industry Tech 2022, a competition for innovative developments for the mining and metallurgical industry, and new models of exoskeletons are tested at the Copper plant.
