#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Secondary school No. 12 in the Taimyr settlement of Potapovo is now a contender for the all-Russian municipal award Service.
Residents of Potapovo have applied in the category Regional Improvement – Prosperity of the Community. Two successfully implemented projects have been submitted for the competition: Taimyr Contemporary and Thread of Revival.
After passing the first two stages of the award, the school’s application is currently undergoing expert evaluation. Successfully completing this stage will allow the team to participate in public voting, according to the official website of Dudinka.
Thanks to the Taimyr Contemporary project, a public space has been created in Potapovo to expand extracurricular education and leisure activities for high school students and youth. Social screenings of Russian films are held at the Contemporary center, young people engage in board games, and an astronomical club called TaimyrKaya (which means “the sun of Taimyr” in Enets) has been established and is actively operating at the school.
As part of the grant project Thread of Revival, a center dedicated to preserving and promoting Enets culture has been established in the settlement. This center is currently thriving and has added new specializations, including sewing traditional clothing and developing the national cuisine of the smallest ethnic group in Taimyr.
