#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. At the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, Norilsk Nickel and VK signed an agreement under which the companies will jointly develop IT solutions for the metallurgical business.
The document provides cooperation in the field of cloud computing and IT infrastructure virtualization, multifunctional platforms and portals development, tools for managing big data and artificial intelligence technologies, the company’s press office reported.
The agreement was signed by Dmitry Pristanskov, state secretary, vice president for relations with authorities and governance of Nornickel, and Pavel Gontarev, VK Tech managing director.
In particular, the companies plan to develop Internet of Things technologies and industry-specific geoinformation services.
Pristanskov noted that digitalization is very important for Norilsk Nickel:
“In our company, all business processes from office and management to planning of mining, metallurgical processing, supply and logistics have been put on a ‘digital rail’. After the Western IT developers left, we rebuilt our digital landscape. Our agreement was based on that technological cooperation in terms of the domestic IT solutions development and application for our metallurgical industry”.
