#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Norilsk museums invite everyone to join in the Maslenitsa festivities and say goodbye to the Arctic winter. The main celebrations will be held on March 2nd at the Norilsk museum, located at 14 Lenin street. Visitors can expect a range of activities, including folk games, a concert program, and hands-on workshops.
At the museum, a Maslenitsa fair will open, offering a variety of souvenirs, and a real Artisans’ Settlement will be set up, featuring different workshops where you can try your hand at various crafts.
“As always, festival-goers will come together to create, craft, weave, and sew the most beautiful Maslenitsa straw woman. This year, Maslenitsa’s braid will be extra-long – just like our long Arctic winter! With the help of skilled artisans, everyone will have the chance to contribute a piece to the braid for the Maslenitsa doll”, the museum’s press service explained.
The celebration will continue with a lively concert program on Komsomolskaya square. The program includes fun activities like shoe-throwing, skiing races, and pancake flipping, along with many other games for the whole family to enjoy.
Following the concert, the traditional burning of the Maslenitsa straw doll will take place on the square.
At the Talnah branch of the museum, interactive stations will also be open, offering activities such as bead weaving, clay sculpting, workshops on making feeding dolls, and, of course, the traditional burning of the straw woman.
Entry to the Maslenitsa events at the museum is by ticket, but those in costume and those with long braids can enter for free! Throughout Maslenitsa week, the Norilsk museum welcomes everyone to join in on classes and workshops. For more details, check the link.
Earlier, the Norilsk Museum invited everyone to play cities.
