#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The expedition, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, will start in the workers’ settlement of Messoyaha in the Yamalo-Nenets autonomous district and will arrive in Dudinka, from where it will go to the Republic of Saha (Yakutia) and further to Chukotka.
On Tuesday, January 21, in Dudinka, at the monument to the Taimyr soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War, a memorial rally with the laying of flowers will be held and a ceremonial transfer of the Eternal Flame from the main directorate of the Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry for the Yamalo-Nenets autonomous district to the cadets of the ESM-Resource class of the Krasnoyarsk region, who will accompany it to Norilsk, will take place.
At the same time as the transfer of the flame in Dudinka, another lamp with the Eternal Flame will be lit, which will travel to the very north – the village of Dikson, the Taimyr municipal district’s press service reports.
On the same day, a concert will be held in the city’s House of Culture with the participation of the vocal and instrumental ensemble of the Emergencies Ministry Directorate for the Krasnoyarsk region Ekipazh and the start of the second expedition will be given, which will set off on January 22.
During the week, the participants will have to cover 659 kilometers in one direction on off-road terrain. In the territories of the settlements of Ust-Port, Karaul, Baikalovsk, Vorontsovo and the urban settlement of Dikson, there will be ceremonial events, the laying of flowers at monuments and memorials to soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War, as well as meetings with Taimyr schoolchildren, the Taimyr administration’s Activities Support Center reported.
The memorial expedition will involve two Burlak and two Krechet snow and swamp-going vehicles.
The expedition will cover nine Arctic regions. It started on December 25, 2024, in Murmansk and will end on January 31, 2025, in the Chukotka village of Pevek, where a piece of the Eternal Flame will be delivered. Participants in the Arctic expedition of the Emergency Situations Ministry will also conduct comparative tests of all-terrain vehicles and other exercises.
Earlier, the Severny Gorod media company invited Norilsk residents to share stories of their relatives who served in the Red Army or worked in the rear during the Great Patriotic War. The media company, together with the city residents, will conduct the Norilsk Fates of Victory project throughout the anniversary year.
