#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The event Creating a Digital Environment for Native Languages Through the Prism of Technology and Creative Industries will be devoted to the issues of preserving and developing native languages through digital technologies and innovative approaches.
The strategic session was organized by the Regional Association of Indigenous Minorities of the Krasnoyarsk Region with the support of the Siberian Federal University. As part of the event, participants – experts and connoisseurs of the languages of indigenous minorities, teachers, IT specialists, activists and representatives of public organizations of the indigenous minorities – will discuss the most pressing issues related to the use of technology and creative industries to preserve the languages of the indigenous minorities.
Particular attention will be paid to the implementation of machine learning methods for data labeling and the creation of a base for automatic translators and educational applications, the Northern Territories Development Agency reported.
The session program includes a plenary session, round tables, seminars and master classes, where participants will learn about innovative approaches to preserving linguistic heritage, and discuss the role of young people in the revival of native languages. Leading experts in digital technology, linguistics and culture are expected to speak.
The agency adds that in recent decades, many indigenous languages have been on the verge of extinction, which has led to the task of preserving and reviving them. Modern technologies are opening up new opportunities to solve this problem.
