#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. As a result of the closure, in Monchegorsk, sulfur dioxide emissions decreased to 30 thousand tons, and on the entire Kola peninsula, emissions will decrease by 85 percent by the end of 2021, compared to 2015.
The closure of the metallurgical workshop will affect about 700 employees of the Kola MMC and Pechengastroy enterprise. For social support, the Nornickel company is implementing a targeted program worth more than 800 million rubles. It is aimed at employment, retraining and adaptation of personnel.
The concentrate, which was processed at the Kola MMC, will be sent to Norilsk for the production of finished products. In Monchegorsk the Nornickel company plans to build a copper refining plant.
As a reminder, earlier Nornickel had already stopped outdated production: the nickel plant in Norilsk and the smelting shop in the Nickel settlement.
