#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. An artist from Krasnodar, a sculptor and hereditary blacksmith, a resident of PolArt Yana Vasilyeva invites you to the final exhibition Wanderings on the Wind and Immersion in the Lake Depths. A total site-specific installation will occupy the entire exhibition hall of the Polar Art residence.

Site-specific art, or object-oriented art, is closely connected with the place of creation. For Yana, the natural inspiration was the Putorana reservoirs: the main elements of the installation will be steel lakes and their fantastic inhabitants – creatures in the form of biomorphic sculptures made of papier-mâché. The opposition of materials – cold metal and warm paper – is a metaphor for the polarities of our imperfect world.
“I am creating a utopian world – a lake-pool. But not an evil one, pulling you into its depths, but one for thoughts and searching”, says the artist. “A lake that is not on the map, but which is easy to go to. There are treasures and rare species of flora, bizarre creatures, fossils and clots of metal. Here is vulnerability and fragility that temper. Here is an impulse that gives strength, and a legend that you can build yourself”.
What legends and associations the viewer’s imagination can build, we will soon feel and see. The opening of the exhibition is September 10 in the art residence on Bogdan Hmelnitsky street.
Earlier, the artist from St. Petersburg presented Norilsk in textiles and graphics.
