#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Scientists at the University of Colorado believe vegetation could return to the Arctic. This is reported by the scientific publication Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
Researchers have found that in the distant past, the Arctic was similar to the modern tundra. Scientists came to this conclusion by studying the DNA of plants about 100 thousand years old. It turned out that they grew up to 400 kilometers north of where they are now. Greens may return to the Arctic again due to melting snows and global warming, biologists say.
We previously wrote that the length of the seasons can change. And in the coming decades, there may be no sea ice left in the Arctic in the summer.
