#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The geological park in Nornickel’s ore capital is planned to be ceremonially opened in September 2024.
Recently, workers brought another batch of multi-ton rock samples: basalt, anhydrite, limestone, cuprous and bornite ores, argillite, lava breccia, hornfels, leucogabbro, gabbro-dolerite – there will be 20 heavyweights in total.
The exhibits are being set on specially made concrete paths and foundations. The main contractor is Nornickel Technical Services. The Kayerkansky, Anhydrite, Oktyabrsky, Zapolyarny mines and the Medvezhy Rouchey quarry are helping to collect and deliver the stone blocks. Norilsk administration is also assisting.
Also, the Talnah branch of the Norilsk Museum has been creating a park exhibition of Taimyr minerals together with geologists, activists and volunteers since the summer of 2023. The idea is supported by a grant from the Nornickel company’s charitable program World of New Opportunities.
GEOpark will become a continuation of the NA-Gora museum, which marked the beginning of the Talnah museumification.
Earlier, This Is Taimyr reported that NDA team will present Norilsk at the international landscape festival.
