#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Artyom Zaharov, acting representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Krasnoyarsk, visited Taimyr. As part of the working trip, the diplomat met with the Taimyr municipal district administration leaders and discussed issues of cooperation and assistance in establishing contacts between Taimyr and the Arctic states.
According to Zaharov, the unique nature of the peninsula, the traditions of the indigenous peoples are what can attract foreign tourists.
“Now we are actively cooperating with Tyva and Hakassia. And I’d like to note that a breakthrough is evident – the first tourism forum has been organized. I consider it necessary to promote the Russian North abroad as well. There is something to show on Taimyr. We can provide assistance in organizing press tours, provide information support for the events of the territory at the sites of the Ministry in foreign languages”, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs representative.
The peninsula has repeatedly attracted the journalists and tourists. So, in April, an expedition started in Taimyr within the framework of a joint project of the interstate TV and radio company Mir and the Social Networks agency iKumena. The expedition, which was supported by Nornickel, will result in a documentary.
