#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Last Saturday, Dudinka celebrated its 357th birthday and presented itself as the City of Family Happiness for its holiday.
Despite the windy and cool weather, the first persons of the district, the city-forming enterprise – the Nornickel’s Polar Transport Branch, as well as representatives of the Norilsk administration came onto the stage of the main Embankment square of Dudinka with congratulations.
“Today we celebrate a significant and important date – 357 years ago, the history of Dudinka began with a small wintering. A history that was written by many generations of Dudinka residents who gave the city their work, talents and hearts, and we continue their work, every day we write a new history with our work and actions”, the head of Dudinka, Yury Gurin, congratulated his fellow countrymen.
On the festive stage the name of a worthy woman who dedicated her life to the city was heard. This year, Victoria Momde, a teacher at Taimyr College, became an honorary citizen of Dudinka for her many years of conscientious work and great personal contribution to the development of vocational education in Taimyr. The best Dudinka families were awarded special congratulations and gifts.
“We see that the city is transforming and growing thanks to all the Taimyr residents. It is known that Dudinka is a city where hearts are moored, so it is not surprising that yesterday at the graduation ceremony at Taimyr College, one graduate proposed marriage to another graduate. This means only one thing: life in Dudinka is thriving and continues”, the head of Taimyr, Alexey Chlenov, congratulated the Dudinka residents.
From his hands, the city administration received a gift certificate for the renovation of public spaces in Dudinka for a total amount of 3.2 million roubles.
The Nornickel’s Polar Transport Branch management, as always, was proactive. It presented Dudinka with a gift in the form of an already implemented project to improve public space near the Dudinka seaport administration.
“The city and the port are inseparable from each other – this is true. Almost all Dudinka residents are in one way or another connected with the port, and the port is connected with the life of Dudinka. That’s why we gave the city the renovated Portovikov square”, said Alexey Novakov, Nornickel’s Polar Transport Branch director, when presenting the memorial address to Yury Gurin.
The head of Dudinka, Yury Gurin, in addition to the official congratulations on the podium in accordance with the motto ‘Dudinka is the city of family happiness’, personally bid farewell to the city’s newlyweds, received a capsule from school graduates with a message to the next generation of schoolchildren, and congratulated participants in schoolchildren’s work teams. The head of the city considered it necessary to say a parting word to everyone and take a photo together.
The grateful participants of the celebrations did not remain in debt – the brides, according to tradition, threw wedding bouquets from the stage to the holiday guests on the square. And the graduates made wishes by touching the port city symbol – the steering wheel at Embankment square.
“Dudinka is unique, one of the northernmost ports of Russia, where amazing people live. The Yenisey river is the breadwinner of the northerners, who carefully preserve the traditions of the indigenous peoples of Taimyr”, Natalya Korosteleva, Norilsk deputy head for social policy, congratulated the residents of Dudinka.
Earlier, we wrote about the Norilsk-Dudinka agglomeration creation. We also reported that our site Severny Gorod was assessed as one of the eight best regional media in the country.
