#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. At the International Fair of Intellectual Literature Non/fiction, the Nauka academic publishing house for the first time since 1895 presented a collection of unique gift and ceremonial books, which were previously produced only by special orders of the first persons and the highest leaders of the country. For example, this first coronation edition in several languages, which was sent to the courts of many countries of the world, was printed on the occasion of the coronation of Emperor Peter II, then Empress Anna Ioannovna and other Russian monarchs.
According to the publishing house representative, the books at the fair in Gostiny Dvor are bound in an exclusive design, created by the best masters of the bookbinding art.
“We present books from the academic series Peoples and Cultures especially for visitors to the exhibition-fair. These are the volumes Tatars, Adyghe, Jews, Ossetians, Kalmyks. The volumes about the Siberia peoples include essays on the history and life of the northernmost peoples of Taimyr – the Dolgans, Nganasans, Evenks”, said Inna Murga, a representative of the publishing house.
The publishing house exhibited a collection of ceremonial and gift books in unique embossed bindings only once in its three-century history – at the First All-Russian Exhibition of Printing in St. Petersburg in 1895.
Earlier, two new books were published in the Dolgan and Evenki languages.
