#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The year 2022 has come to an end, but the work to clear the northern land continues. Nornickel’s ten-year program provides for the demolition of old abandoned buildings and structures, the cleaning of scrap metal and garbage accumulated around industrial facilities. Andrey Raduntsev, the Polar Division Production Department’s Work with Territories and Landscaping head, spoke about what has been done within the Clean Norilsk program and what are the plans for the future.
“The results of December have not yet been summed up, but we can already talk about higher achievements (compared to 2021) in 2022: 126 emergency buildings and structures were dismantled, more than 470 thousand tons of garbage were removed and more than 25 thousand tons of scrap metal were collected, more than 1.5 million square meters of territory, and also carried out the technical stage of reclamation of disturbed lands in the area of the Nadezhda metallurgical plant on the area of almost 80 hectares. This year the Clean Norilsk program has received several federal and international awards.
A new type of work was the reclamation of disturbed lands – the optimal technology of work had to be done, since the work was carried out on soils with low bearing capacity.
A separate big topic is the work with scrap metal. Previously, the Polar Division processed up to 40 000 tons of scrap metal, and with the implementation of the program, this volume has doubled.
Next year, we plan to clear from 800 000 to a million square meters of territory and dismantle about 60 different objects – a close-knit team can solve any problems!
