Athletes from all over Russia took part in Taimyr trail

August 23, 2022

The experience of running in nature showed an interest in this type of activity.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Norilsk Trail 2022 cross-country race, the first one in the Taimyr history, was attended by 40 athletes from Dudinka, St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Sheregesh, Omsk and Novosibirsk.

Fans of running in nature competed in three distances: 5, 10 and 20 kilometers.

Participants started and finished in the VS-8 (mine’s ventilation shaft) area. Those who registered for 5 kilometers distance, ran to Red Stones waterfall and back, 10 kilometers – to the Hare Ears waterfall and back, and daredevils who dared to overcome 20 kilometers enjoyed the waterfall view twice.

Vadim Klygov won at the shortest distance among men with a result of 28 minutes 20 seconds. Among women, Violetta Maltseva became the winner – 36 minutes 26 seconds.

Ekaterina Goreva was the first to conquer the distance of 10 kilometers in just 49 minutes 15 seconds. In men, Roman Ibraev showed the best result – 51 minutes 28 seconds.

Ivan Yuryev was the first to manage the longest distance – 1 hour 33 minutes 24 seconds. The only woman who dared to run 20 kilometers was Olesya Mahotina. Her result was 2 hours 27 minutes 32 seconds.

The sporting event festive atmosphere was provided by the northernmost enduro riders in Russia from the Hardenduro Taimyr club, the Red_O and Kitten’s music teams, Timon DJ and the Ministry of the Holiday event agency.

A real gift for the participants was the Voice show finalist Elina Pan performance.

“This race is another example of well-coordinated work of active citizens and the Norilsk Development Agency. Demyan Bulavinets and Yury Engelgardt, who are passionate about sports and tourism, came up with the initiative to hold the competitions. Through joint efforts, we managed to make a really high-quality and bright event”, said Anastasia Korol, the Norilsk Development Agency’s deputy director for tourism development.

The first trail run experience showed a great interest in this type of activity. And not only on the part of local residents, but also on the part of athletes from other cities. Northern nature provides a great opportunity to test yourself for everyone who likes to challenge themselves.

Anastasia Korol noted that next year Norilsk will again host a cross-country race. It promises to be even bigger and more massive.

We also told that a team of extreme sportsmen set two world records in the Arctic. The first snowmobile festival Snow Ride Putorana 2022 in Norilsk and a mass swim on lake Lama X-WATERS Plateau Putorana took place in Taimyr.
